Online FORUMs - Storytelling for Early Years

FORUM - is an informal discussion space led by storyteller Tamar Eluned Williams and theatre maker Naomi Doyle with the support of Adverse Camber.

These sessions will allow storytellers and other artists to meet, discuss their craft, share skills, and pool resources. It’s also an opportunity for storytellers from Europe and further afield to come together ahead of FEST 2024, identify areas of interest and possible sites of collaboration, as well as to get to know the organisations of the Four Nations responsible for coordinating this year’s FEST.

Storyteller Tamar Williams and theatre maker Naomi Doyle will share their explorations and discoveries in creating Mali a’r Môr/Mali and the Sea, adapted from the Molly books by Malachy Doyle across two online FORUMs.

June 10 6pm - Storytelling for Early Years

Participants will be guided through breakout spaces to discuss the connections between theatre and storytelling, the possibilities for shared discoveries between different art forms, and the shifts in performance languages and techniques needed to engage an early years audience. Expect a vibrant, enthusiastic space for storytellers to meet, discuss their craft, and share skills and experiences.

The event is online and will not be recorded.

Please only book one ticket per screen/device.

The FORUM discussions will take place on Zoom.

June 17 6pm - Little Folk & Minority Language

How do you approach telling stories for children in minority languages? What is your approach to bilingual telling, telling stories that prioritise less dominant languages, and using storytelling to build vocabulary in non-native speakers? Using the development of a Welsh-led show for early years audiences as a jumping-off point, we’ll be exploring the techniques used by storytellers to support language acquisition, ensuring the audience is comfortable in a multilingual space, and how storytelling can develop celebration and enjoyment of minority language.

The event is online and will not be recorded.

Please only book one ticket per screen/device.

The FORUM discussions will take place on Zoom.
